Will you find the secrets of creating a successful online local business on this site? I would not say “secrets”, but you may discover something that you did not know. I read an article that advocated Realtors should be heading online, and it detailed several steps that they should take to create a valid online presence. The article was misleading, suggesting sites which did not exist anymore, or sites that they had to be invited to join. Since I have been creating a few new websites, I thought that instead of taking those post and placing them here, I would document my efforts a new. Looking at all of the steps involved in creating and promoting a website.

You may feel that you need a host of experts to set up a site that would bring you business, but that is not true. There are times when you need the help of an expert. However, you can create a site with little knowledge, and you can have it noticed. You can even develop a blog without spending any money at all. This can be a viable business model. Eventually, you may find that finding and hiring a consultant may improve your efforts. I plan to go over my past efforts to provide you with insights into this free route while the main focus is doing it yourself with some expenses. Most of the means discussed will save you money though.

We will look at using the platform called WordPress, which you can use as a CMS (content management system) or as a blog. There are other platforms and means to build a site, but WordPress offers many possibilities to modify a site to your own needs. I believe that it has the easiest to learn interface for a new user. That point is arguable, but this popular blogging app has become fast growing because of it ease of use. You can quickly set up an online local business site with this system that will give you a professional image on the web.

Having a website is not enough; social networking is becoming increasingly important, but your website is the base to work from. I will go over basic marketing aspects for a local business, and this includes social networking to creating ads. Part of online marketing is the content that you make available, so I will go over developing content for your site and others to help promote you as a local expert. I have a B.A. in English Literature, so I can tell you that good content on the web does not follow good content for an essay or literary work, so we will study this aspect of the web too.

That is my introduction to this site, giving you an idea of how we will proceed in developing an online local site.
