A two columned theme that was inspired by my garden.

I am starting a new site in conjuction with my home inspection blog that will be dedicated to Houston gardening. The site is meant to cover all gardening concerns, while adding some cooking to the mix. That makes this theme personal.

    The basic idea was to produce a simple blog that would be well suited for a site meant to be for garden writing. Three column themes work for many sites; however, I wanted to have a site that focused on the writing. Since I am not starting a landscaping business, I considered features that would be typical for a blog.

   The color scheme is mainly soft browns of the earth. I was thinking of having a header with a series of garden images. When I played with textures and images, I came up with this combination. I used a bit of light green to help the earth tones. To keep the clean look, I stuck to my love of multilevel menus. I liked having metadata like the post date and author under the header, but I did not want to overly highlight this fact. This led me to just place them under the title. The metadata in the footer of the post was a different matter. I felt that leaving the tags and categories helped readers search the site. 

   As always, there is the RSS feed in the footer. I think that I might put in the sidebar for my site. There are links for a term of service page and privacy page, which can be removed for non-business sites.
